The coast runs late — but “late” means different things in different rooms. A beach bar is finished by ten; a surf club is finished by midnight; the clubs on Broadbeach go as late as you'll let them. These are the eight venues, in the order they're useful, with what each one is actually for.
How the Night Works
The shape of it: a sunset drink on a beach bar or surf-club deck (6–9pm), dinner on a back street or a strip café (8–10pm), then the bar (10pm onwards). The The Star is the last stop — it's an integrated resort, and it runs the latest of everything. If you want the quiet version, the beachfront bars and the surf clubs are the whole night: sunset, dinner, one or two drinks, home by eleven. If you want the loud version, Cavill Avenue and Broadbeach are where it is. Both are worth doing.
White Rhino
Type: urban-jungle bar with live entertainment (Circle on Cavill, Surfers Paradise). The room is the point: a waterfall bar, rock formations, an open breezy layout. There's a wide menu to share, a big cocktail and wine list, and live music most nights — it opens Wednesday to Sunday and runs to 1am on Friday and Saturday. This is the “big night out without the full club” option: food, music, a crowd, all in one room. Two hours' validated parking on site. White Rhino
The Exhibitionist
Type: beach bar (Mermaid Beach). A long wooden bar on the sand, the sea behind it — the coast's best sunset drink. Cocktails are the focus; the crowd is local; the room is open to the beach. Go at 6pm, stay for the light, and the night is half done before it's started. It's the venue to pair with a Burleigh or Mermaid dinner: walk the beach, drink on the sand, then eat. The Exhibitionist
Finn McCool's
Type: Irish pub (39 Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise). Hearty pub food, a full pint, live music, and the Sunday roast — the best-pub-meal on the coast, for a small price. Open daily from 11am until late, with lunch specials and a proper menu. If the night is a “one big meal and a few pints” thing, this is it — the casual, loud, food-first end of the strip. Finn McCool's
Rosella's
Type: bar and grill (1734 Gold Coast Highway, Burleigh Heads). All things Australiana: nostalgic and native plates, creative cocktails, natural wines and tinnies, open until late seven nights a week. It's the local's Burleigh bar — smaller rooms, a longer menu, a crowd that's there for the food and the wine, not the music. Go for a late lunch or an early dinner; it's the calm version of a Burleigh night. Rosella's
Salt Cafe Bar
Type: café bar (Brickworks Centre, 107 Ferry Road, Southport). The daytime-to-evening bridge: coffee in the morning, a long outdoor dining area (draped in greenery) through the afternoon, drinks in the evening. If you're staying in Southport and want “one place for all three meals” without moving, it's the one — modern Australian plates, a relaxed room, a waterfront walk on the doorstep. Salt Cafe Bar
The Cambus Wallace
Type: fine dining and cocktail bar (Mermaid Beach). The Scottish-heritage name and the proper menu: dinner first, then a late bar. It's the “dress up for the night” option — the coast's proper restaurant-and-bar, a short drive from Burleigh. Go for the 7pm sitting, a long meal, and the bar after; it's the venue that ends the night at ten instead of three. The Cambus Wallace
BMD Northcliffe
Type: beachfront surf club (Garfield Terrace, Surfers Paradise). A 300-seat bistro, a large outdoor deck, a bar pouring on-tap wine, a TAB and gaming rooms — the club that's been the coast's sunset spot for decades. Go at 5:30pm: a cold drink on the deck, the sun over the water, dinner on the bistro menu. It's the easy, good-value version of a beachfront evening — and the member's 10% off a reason to come back. BMD Northcliffe
The Star
Type: integrated resort and nightclub (Broadbeach). A world-class casino floor, a theatre, big buffets, and clubs that run the latest on the coast — the last stop of the night. It's the full-scale option: a show, a big meal, the casino if that's your thing, and a club that goes as late as you'll let it. If the night is a “where do we finish” question, the answer is here. The Star
Planning a Night
By mood: calm sunset — The Exhibitionist (beach bar) or BMD Northcliffe (surf club). Food first — TheCambus Wallace (dinner and a late bar) or Finn McCool's (pub meal and pints). Big night — White Rhino (the room, the music, the crowd), then The Star if you're staying in. Local — Rosella's in Burleigh. The order that works: sunset drink at 6pm, dinner at 8pm, the bar at 10pm, the club (if you're going) at midnight. Transport: the G:link runs Surfers to Broadbeach until late; a cab from the beach to the resort is ten minutes and about the same. And whatever room you finish in — the beachfront bars and the surf clubs are the two that have the best version of the 6pm hour on the coast.
